Melt Care & Safety

Wax melts are used in an oil burner to release wonderful fragrances to create a fabulous atmosphere in your home, office or shop.

Follow these tips to ensure an excellent and safe scent throw when using your Hikari Melt:

  • Place your oil burner in a safe, stable situation, away from drafts and anything flammable and also well out of the reach of children

  • Unwrap and place the desired amount of melt in the top of a dry oil burner - do not add water

  • Light a plain unscented tea light candle (or the same scent of the chosen melt) in the base of the oil burner and allow the wax to melt - when melted the wonderful aroma of the melt will be released into the room

  • Don't forget to extinguish the tea light candle when leaving the room - never leave it unattended or within reach of children

When the wax melt has cooled it will solidify again, you can either re-use the melt or place the oil burner in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes, then place a knife under one of the edges of the wax and you will find the wax usually pops out (use caution not to damage the top of the oil burner). Alternatively just before it completely solidifies but has cooled, you can slip the melt out in one swift motion with your fingers usually in one piece. Running the oil burner under warm tap water will also make the melt soft enough to slip out and this also works well.

Remember, burning wax melts involves a candle flame and hot melted wax; these two things can be very dangerous, so take extreme care and enjoy the wonderful fragrances and essential oils that are available in our Hikari Melt Range.
